PromoJam takes to the Air with Virgin America and Rock The Vote!

This is the Boarding Call for Virgin America flight Red, White and Blue - going nonstop to Washington DC with PromoJam and Rock The Vote!

This morning, Virgin America celebrated the launch of its new low-fare, upscale nonstop service to Washington DC’s Reagan National Airport (DCA) with an irreverent election-themed celebration for its first commercial flight from SFO.

The “campaign rally”-style sendoff featured Obama and Romney impersonators and PromoJam was there to help launch the new service with a unique promotion to encourage First Flight guests to register to vote via Virgin America’s Red in-flight entertainment system.

Starting today, guests on Virgin America flights will be able to use their smartphones to scan a QR code using the RedLaser scanning app on the airline’s Red seatback entertainment platform to register to vote. Powered by PromoJam’s Social Marketing suite, this unique experience will definitely change the face of the 2012 elections - even from 35,000 feet up in the air!

Here are some pics from the day’s amazing festivities!

Got our VIP passes on and we’re ready for flight!

And this is where the magic happens - guests can scan the QR code onscreen to register to vote and be a part of the #ScanToVote movement!

PromoJam & Scan to Vote Rock out at SXSW!

We might not have been on stage slammin’ the drums, but our latest and greatest promotion with Rock the Vote was all over this year’s SXSW. We teamed up with Junk Food T-Shirts, Threads for Thought, and Warby Parker, to help launch the unique “Scan To Vote” mobile promotion in support of the 2012 election year! Utilizing QR codes in the design of our cool Scan to Vote T-shirts, users loved this quick and easy way to show their support for the campaign!

This promotion is sure to make a huge impact on the upcoming November elections, as well as the change the way we vote in the future. We are proud to spark this revolution and had loads of fun in the process – How can SXSW not be? A bunch of celebrities got into the spirit of activism along with us. Here’s a little recap of all the shenanigans that went down at Warby Parker’s Circus tent!

Twitter in the News: Twitter goes to Washington

Mashable reported this morning that Twitter has a new hire: Adam Sharp, formerly an C-SPAN executive producer and Senator Mary L Landrieu’s (D-LA) deputy chief of staff.

Sharp stresses that he won’t be working as a Twitter advocate on the hill, lobbying for policies that might help the startup (is it still a startup??), rather he’ll be helping politicians in DC use Twitter as an effective communication tool, as we saw White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs do last week.

Twitter isn’t the first social media platform to plant offices in our Nation’s capital: Facebook has a large office there, full of lobbyists and policy workers. Like Twitter’s new staff member, the Facebook offices in DC are dedicated to “the education and persuasion of those in power,”

Granted, it makes sense to have offices in DC, considering the vast effect that social media has played in the democratic process recently, with over 12 million Facebook users announcing that they voted on Facebook this past Tuesday. With the rapidly changing landscape of internet communication and large role that social media has played in it, having someone to communicate with political leaders about using social media is an effective tool, mutually beneficial both for politicians and for the social networks themselves.
